Admit it or not everyone is a Facebook or Twitter addict to some extent. I for one am addicted to both (right hand to God) as I have the apps on my phone and whenever I get the chance, I log in for the latest updates. But to go to such an extent as naming your child “like” or “hashtag” is an unparalleled extreme.
Last year, an Israeli couple named their child “Like” after the Facebook feature of the same name. They justified it by saying that they wanted a modern and innovative name.
This year, another woman has named her child after a social networking site feature. A girl by the name of Hashtag has been brought to this world. The full name of the child is Hashtag Jameson. The mother posted the news of “Hashtag’s” birth on Facebook, with a picture of the new born baby.

Bloggers from around the world have commented on her action. Some say that if she were such a die-hard Twitter fan, why she posted on Facebook and not tweet about her newborn and her tweety name. Others have jested about her nicknames. Will her nickname be “Hash” or “Tag”?
