Truth be told, from where I am standing mankind is pretty much walking towards the apocalypse or as some bloggers are calling the Robocalypse. Mankind is constructing technology which has long been feared by science fiction writers to lead to human extinction. Another tech is awaiting patent which lets one machine to design another machine and then manufacture it, or to put it lightly print it without any human supervision.
iRobot, an American company which manufactures machines/robots for factory works along with Rayheon BBN Technologies Corp. is applying for a patent of a device called the “Robot Fabricator”. The machine described in the patent consists of a tool head, a first manipulator and a second manipulator. The tool head is for the development or production of the idea. The first manipulator and the second manipulator are for analyzing and viewing the item and components of the idea being developed respectively. The Robot Fabricator is to provide six different orientation axes to align the item with the tool head.
With the methodology of this nefarious machine explained, I’ll let your imagination run wild and let you decide as to whether this will lead to a scenario similar to the one in Terminator, I,Robot and various other movies.
