Secom, the largest Japanese security company has developed a quadrotor which acts as a mobile security camera. It moves in once someone breaches your house or any place you need guarded and takes pictures of the intruder, sending them to the base terminal. If the intruder tries to run in a car, it even takes pictures of the license plate.
Secom took an existing technology from Ascending Technologies, a German Company and made some upgrades to it for its new drone. It first equipped the quadrotor with a laser sensor, which enables the drone to sense movement in a specified area. Also added were a camera, LED lights and a communications system. The camera for pictures, LED lights for maneuverability in darkness and communications system to enable the drone to transfer the images to a base computer.
No one will ever be sneaking around your house anymore once you have this bad boy. It remains connected to a charger, and unplugs itself for evidence collection and return back to base to charge automatically once it shoos away the intruder. It can fly around for 15 minutes with full charging. It would be cool if it could dodge bullets or any incoming projectile, but no info on it as yet.
