Mercedes-Benz has developed a system that warns the driver when it goes away from the right path i.e. the wrong lane entry. Benz has taken a remarkable step that would avoid accidents caused due to the wrong way entry of the automobiles to a great extent.
The system comprise of a front mounted camera which is combined with an operating system and software that monitors the sign boards like “Do Not Enter” or other wrong-way signs built along the roadside. Whenever driver accidently enters the prohibited roadway, the car will make noise and flash warnings on the dash board. This is actually a direct need in Germany which is genuinely recognized by Mercedes-Benz.
According to the stats it has been found that 25 drivers have died from such situations and accidents happening for the reason posed above also the law abiding drivers who end up injured due to the mistakes of others. The ADAC, Germany’s largest automobile club, estimates that there are up to 2,800 incidents of wrong-way driving every year, or about seven a day. Sounds steep, but most of them end without a collision.
The system of Mercedez Benz has a camera which is attached inside the windshield; the camera is trained to identify the signs for no entry. The operating system compares the photo of sign present along roadside with the GPS information and if the data indicates that car is entering wrong lane then three loud beeps and a flashing red light is turned on that warns the driver.
